This tour covers zones 01, 02, 10, and 11, allowing you to experience the city’s highlights and hidden corners on foot. Pickup from your hotel in Colombo will be arranged by Tuk Tuk, transporting you to Gangaramaya Temple. From there, you will proceed to the Old Dutch Hospital and then to Pettah, where your guided walking tour of Colombo will commence. As you walk, you’ll visit the vibrant Slave Island district, home to a beautifully adorned Hindu temple, where colorful statues and sacred shrines add a rich cultural dimension. Moving towards the Fort area, you’ll see iconic landmarks like the Old Parliament Building, Colonial Hotel, President House, and Clock Tower, each reflecting Colombo’s colonial heritage and storied past.
A tea and snack break awaits you at the historic Grand Orient Hotel, a charming location to recharge before diving into Pettah. Here, the streets pulse with life as street vendors, market porters, and local shops fill the atmosphere with energy. From the vibrant red and white Red Mosque to the Old Town Hall, this part of the tour gives you a true taste of the cultural tapestry that makes Colombo so unique. Venturing through the market area, where bustling scenes of vendors and shoppers paint a lively picture, you’ll find the city’s hustle and bustle in full display.
The walk continues to St. Anthony’s Church and along Main Street, a perfect spot to sample some local street food and observe the colorful goods and craftsmanship on display. Finally, wrapping up near Fort Railway Station, the walk gives you a memorable glimpse into Colombo’s dynamic past and present.
Please note: Due to the cultural and religious significance of certain sites on the tour, it is advised to wear long clothing, especially when visiting temples or religious monuments.
